Jacqueline de las Carreras had been a member of the Argentine Disability Corporation (CADIS) and representative for Argentina and Latin America in the Disabled Peoples' International Organization for four years. On May 14th, 1988, she decided to create a social organization. Fundación Par was created as a: private, non-governmental and non-profit organization, “promoting labour integration of people with disabilities, at a competitive level”. A group of business people became members of the Board of Directors of this new organization. The mission was to identify the problems of social exclusion of the disabled world within governmental, business and social sectors.
